Rockford Construction Rebrands as ‘Rockford’

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — One of West Michigan’s leading construction and development firms is ushering in a new era with a refreshed brand identity and a shorter name. Rockford Construction, a longtime staple in the Grand Rapids business community, has officially dropped “Construction” from its name and will now be known simply as Rockford.

The change is more than cosmetic—it represents a shift in how the company sees itself and how it wants to be perceived across the industry. While construction remains a core part of its business, Rockford has steadily expanded its capabilities over the years to include real estate development, property management, and a range of consulting services.

“We’ve always been more than just construction,” said Shane Napper, President and CEO of Rockford. “Our name now reflects the reality of who we are—a trusted partner with the ability to tackle challenges from every angle. This rebrand positions us for continued growth across Michigan and beyond.”

Founded in 1987, Rockford has played a key role in transforming Grand Rapids’ skyline, as well as delivering major commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments throughout the state. Its work spans multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, hospitality, and community infrastructure.

The rebrand includes a redesigned logo, updated messaging, and a modernized visual identity across its website and marketing materials. According to the company, the refreshed brand signals a commitment to innovation and a broader, more integrated approach to solving client needs.

“Our clients are looking for more than builders—they want strategic partners who understand real estate from every perspective,” the company said in a statement. “This evolution allows us to better communicate the full spectrum of what we do.”

Rockford currently employs more than 250 people and manages projects statewide, from Detroit to the Upper Peninsula. The firm also continues to invest in community-driven projects and is known for its strong emphasis on sustainability, equity, and inclusive development.

As Rockford sets its sights on new markets and broader services, company leaders say the name change is a natural next step.

“The name Rockford better reflects our integrated approach and our ambitious future,” Napper added. “It honors our legacy while signaling where we’re headed.”
