CATONSVILLE, Md. (WBFF) — A tragic incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Catonsville, Md., when two construction workers were fatally trapped in a trench. The Baltimore County Fire Department confirmed the deaths of the workers who were trapped under a collapsed wall in a six-foot trench.

At approximately noon on February 28, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at the 500 block of Academy Road, where the workers had been attempting to reinforce an outside wall. According to officials, the wall collapsed during the effort, trapping both individuals beneath it.

The Baltimore County Fire Department, along with additional assistance from Baltimore City and Howard County rescue teams, immediately responded to the scene. Crews also received support from BGE personnel. Despite their best efforts, both construction workers were tragically confirmed dead at the site.

The Baltimore County Fire Department shared the devastating news on social media Friday evening, acknowledging the loss of the two individuals involved in the incident.

This accident highlights the inherent risks construction workers face daily, particularly when working in confined spaces such as trenches.
