Texas Damsite Campground at Lake Texoma to Close Temporarily

Closures to facilitate improvements as crews replace culverts on the main access road.

TULSA, OK – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that the Texas Damsite Campground, as well as the Texas Damsite Fishing and Day Use Area at Lake Texoma, will be temporarily closed to the public from April 30 through May 22, 2025. This closure is necessary to allow crews to perform essential infrastructure improvements, specifically replacing culverts on the main access road to the area.

The Texas Damsite area, a popular recreational site at Lake Texoma, is known for its beautiful surroundings and attracts visitors for camping, fishing, and day-use activities. However, as part of the maintenance project, the closures are unavoidable to ensure that safety standards are met and that the public is not exposed to potential hazards during the construction process.

“These improvements are necessary to enhance safety and maintain the quality of the facilities for future visitors,” said a spokesperson for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. “We greatly appreciate the public’s patience and understanding while these critical upgrades take place.”

While the closures are in effect, visitors can still access other nearby amenities. For those holding annual Day Use or America the Beautiful passes, these passes will remain valid and can be used at other U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-operated campgrounds and day-use areas during this time. Passes are available at Gate Attendant Offices within these other facilities.

In addition to the road work, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has outlined that there may be future, temporary disruptions to other parts of the Lake Texoma area as the project progresses. Visitors are encouraged to stay updated on any changes by checking the Lake Texoma Project Office website or calling ahead for current information.

“We ask visitors to plan accordingly and take alternate routes or visit other areas of the lake while this critical work is completed,” the Corps representative added.

For questions or further details, visitors can contact the Lake Texoma Project Office at 903-465-4990. The Corps emphasizes that the closure is a temporary measure, and they are committed to reopening the Texas Damsite facilities as soon as the improvements are completed.
