CACHE COUNTY, Utah — A construction worker sustained serious injuries Tuesday after falling approximately 20 feet from the roof of a new school building under construction in Nibley.

The incident occurred at the future site of a new middle school, located directly behind Heritage Elementary School, where crews have been actively working on the large-scale educational facility.

According to officials, the worker fell from a significant height and landed on a concrete surface inside the structure. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene and administered critical medical assistance immediately upon arrival.

“The construction worker landed on a concrete floor and emergency crews responded and provided critical care on scene,” authorities confirmed.

After initial treatment at the site, the injured worker was taken to a nearby hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center for more advanced care due to the severity of the injuries sustained during the fall.

“The worker was later transported to a local hospital and later flown to a trauma center for further treatment,” officials added.

No details have been released regarding the identity of the worker or their current condition, with officials noting, “No further details were released out of respect for the family's privacy at this time.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and local authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall. Construction-related accidents involving significant falls remain one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatalities in the industry, and safety measures at active work sites continue to be a high priority.

The new middle school project is part of a larger effort to accommodate growing student populations in Cache County, with the district investing in expanded infrastructure to serve the community’s needs. Work on the site is expected to continue, though no word has been given yet on whether operations will be delayed in the wake of the incident.
