Caroline Raffetto

Sundt Construction has announced the promotion of veteran employee Cade Rowley to president and COO, effective October 1. Based in Tempe, Arizona, the 134-year-old, employee-owned firm focuses on transportation, industrial, building, concrete, and renewable power projects.

In his new position, Rowley will lead the operational strategy and execution across all seven business units of the company. Prior to this, he was president of Sundt’s Industrial Group, having joined the firm in 1998 as a field engineer in the Heavy Civil (now Transportation) Group. Over the years, Rowley has progressed through various roles in business development, preconstruction, and operations. His leadership has brought recognition to Sundt in areas such as water and wastewater, heavy industrial, mining, and advanced technology. Additionally, he was instrumental in Sundt’s growth from a regional contractor to a nationally recognized firm with offices and projects across more than two dozen states.

Mike Hoover, who has served as Sundt’s president and CEO since 2016, will maintain his roles as CEO and chair of the board of directors.

“Throughout his 27-year career with Sundt, Cade has demonstrated exceptional adaptability, business acumen and character,” said Hoover. “He is the right leader to help steer Sundt through its next chapter of growth.”

Rowley earned a degree in civil engineering from Arizona State University and is a registered professional engineer. He has served on the executive committee for the Arizona chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, as well as on the board of governors and the political action committee board of trustees for the national AGC. Additionally, Rowley is involved with the Beavers, an organization that encourages college students to pursue careers in heavy construction.
