Lindenwold, NJ — The Board of Commissioners has been honored with the New Jersey Leading Capital Construction Project Award from the New Jersey Alliance for Action for their ongoing work on the Kings Highway rehabilitation project, which broke ground in September. This prestigious award recognizes groundbreaking, transformative construction projects that significantly impact the state's economy, as well as the collaborative efforts of the businesses and organizations involved in ensuring the project’s success.

“The Board of Commissioners is dedicated to investing in our county’s infrastructure to ensure its longevity and stability for generations to come,” said Commissioner Al Dyer. “The Kings Highway project has been a huge undertaking but one that will improve a major throughway in our region and will improve conditions for all modes of transportation. We want to thank the NJ Alliance for Action for this award, and continue the revitalization of Camden County’s highways, thoroughfares, and byways.”

The project, which involves an investment of over $10.7 million, spans Kings Highway through the municipalities of Haddon Heights, Audubon, and ending in Mt. Ephraim. The project aims to completely transform Kings Highway from Market Street to Hopkins Road, enhancing safety and accessibility for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

Key elements of the project include:

  • Milling and/or removal of existing concrete pavement and installation of hot-mix asphalt pavement
  • Resurfacing from Market Street (CR-634) to Hillside Avenue (CR-661)
  • Full-depth reconstruction from Hillside Avenue (CR-661) to West Atlantic Avenue (CR-727)
  • Resurfacing from West Atlantic Avenue (CR-727) to Hopkins Road
  • Improvements to the existing storm sewer system
  • Cleaning and lining of the existing sanitary sewer system, including lateral replacement
  • Installation of concrete vertical curbs, sidewalks, and ADA-accessible curb ramps
  • Traffic striping, signage, and raised pavement markers

The project is expected to be completed in 2025. Residents are encouraged to visit Kings Highway Project Website for updates, traffic control plans, and other relevant information.

This project is expected to have a positive impact on the daily commute of thousands of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, while also addressing long-standing infrastructure challenges. Additionally, the enhanced storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems will improve environmental conditions in the area, providing long-term benefits to the community's quality of life.

As work continues, the collaboration between local officials, engineering firms, and contractors exemplifies a commitment to creating safer, more efficient infrastructure that benefits all county residents. For any concerns or questions regarding the project, residents can contact Paul Nolan, Project Manager at Colliers Engineering & Design, at (732) 704-5931. To report any issues with Camden County roadways, residents can call (856) 566-2980 or visit Camden County Website.

This project not only improves transportation infrastructure but also plays a crucial role in supporting the local economy by providing enhanced road safety and access for the community. The upgrades to Kings Highway are part of a broader initiative by the Board of Commissioners to modernize and revitalize key transportation routes across Camden County, ensuring long-term sustainability and mobility for residents.
