Meet Anthony, Chair of the AGC Construction Leadership Committee (CLC)!

Anthony has over 17 years of leadership responsibility with Pepper Construction. His experience includes working on some the companies most high-profile and complex institutional projects designed by world-renowned architects David Chipperfield and Studio Gang Architects. Recent projects include the expansion of the Saint Louis Art Museum, the expansion and renovation of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, and the Great Apes Exhibit at the Brookfield Zoo. In addition to these projects, he has worked in many markets including high-end retail, hospitality, historic renovations, and higher education. As Director, he oversees project teams throughout the entire construction process from preconstruction through building turnover. Anthony continues to support his alma mater as a member of the Iowa State University Industry Advisory Council for Construction Engineering. Anthony is the Chair of the Construction Leadership Committee for the AGC of America.

Why did you become involved with the national CLC?

I enjoyed engagement in the CLC at the chapter level in Chicagoland and wanted to expand my engagement to the national level. Joining the national level gives me the opportunity to expand my contributions to the industry, sharing experiences from our local region, and collaborating on best practices throughout the country. It's also a great opportunity to make long-lasting relationships with industry peers and help recruit future AGC of America contributors.

What benefits have you enjoyed the most being involved at both the national and local level?

For me, the biggest benefit from being involved at both the Chapter and National levels has been the collaboration with peers to share best practices in our industry and local chapters as well as collaboration on how to ensure our industry thrives for years to come.

In your opinion, what can others gain by engaging with AGC of America and the CLC specifically?

Knowing that you have contributed to the industry in the best way possible is priceless. It’s a great resource for anyone who wants to contribute to the industry but also take knowledge back to your local chapters and region. You gain connections to peers across the country, get a better understanding of our current state as an industry and play a role in guiding its future. Overall, it’s one of the best ways to get involved in our industry while growing both professionally and personally! The CLC is a great opportunity to start your AGC of America journey as it provides opportunities continue engagement in other committees after the CLC.

Last question, what is your favorite AGC event?

My favorite in-person AGC event is the AGC Education & Research Foundation Gala at Convention. It's a great event to network with peers, meet new people, and contribute to a great cause! Also, I love gala's so this is the perfect in-person event to call my favorite.
