Jennifer L. Cohan Appointed President of Associated Builders & Contractors Delaware Chapter

The Associated Builders and Contractors, Delaware Chapter, has announced the appointment of Jennifer L. Cohan as its new president, succeeding Edward Capodanno, who is retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.

Cohan is a distinguished executive with over 35 years of experience in public administration, legislative relations, membership organizations, and higher education, bringing exceptional expertise to her new role.

Currently, Cohan serves as the CEO of Leadership Delaware Inc., where she has successfully led the organization in its mission to develop executive-level professionals. Under her guidance, Leadership Delaware Inc. has gained recognition as an award-winning nonprofit, dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders.

Her career has been marked by her ability to drive organizational growth, forge strategic partnerships, and initiate impactful projects. As cabinet secretary for the Delaware Department of Transportation, Cohan managed a workforce of 2,500 employees and oversaw the development of the state's most significant capital infrastructure projects. During her tenure, she collaborated with the General Assembly to secure an additional $350 million in revenue for transportation initiatives and transformed the Division of Motor Vehicles, implementing reforms that enhanced customer service and streamlined operations.

In her new role as president of Delaware ABC, Cohan will focus on supporting the growth and success of the state’s construction industry while fostering collaboration between builders, contractors, and policymakers. Her extensive experience in both public service and the private sector, including leadership positions with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators and the I-95 Corridor Coalition, will be vital in steering Delaware ABC toward a successful future.

Cohan holds a master of science in management with a focus on public administration from Wilmington University and a bachelor of science in business management. Additionally, she has served as an adjunct professor at Wilmington University, teaching courses in leadership, public policy, and change management.
