IRVINE-based McLaughlin Construction has announced its pride in being reappointed as one of just 18 contractors selected for the second generation of Scotland Excel’s New Build Residential Construction Contract.

The company will handle lots one to four, which encompass both design and build, as well as build-only projects, for developments ranging from one to 80 units. The total value of contracts expected to be delivered over the next four years, starting in September 2024, is estimated at £1.5 billion.

With over 80 years of experience in the construction industry across various sectors, McLaughlin Construction has built a reputation for delivering ‘excellence’ in projects of all sizes and complexities.

The firm’s project portfolio includes new-build schemes, such as the recently completed 2023 project for Thenue Housing Association at Landressy Place in Glasgow, which provided 27 barrier-free, dementia-friendly flats. Another notable project is the design & build initiative at Ardoch Court in Stevenston for Cunninghame Housing Association, which delivered 28 homes, including two special needs accommodation units. McLaughlin has also worked on urban site projects involving partial demolitions, like the redevelopment of the former King’s Arms Hotel in Irvine into six amenity flats for North Ayrshire Council, as well as the careful conservation and refurbishment of listed buildings, such as the British Linen Bank building in Gorbals Street, Glasgow, which was completed at the end of 2019 for Southside Housing Association.

In addition to residential projects, the firm is currently engaged in various sectors, including renovations and improvements in primary schools throughout Ayrshire, the sensitive refurbishment and extension of Millport Town Hall, and the recently completed Hub on the Prom project for Ardrossan Community Development Trust.

Director Shaun McLaughlin stated,

“We’re delighted to have been successful in once again being appointed to this important framework. We maintain director contact on all our projects so I’m looking forward to personally seeing some exciting new work start to run through it.”
