Caroline Raffetto

Alabama A&M University is gearing up for the construction of two key buildings on its campus, marking a significant investment of over $140 million. The university has appointed Freedom Real Estate and Capital, a long-time partner in its development projects, to provide advisory services for the construction of a new science building and a student amenities building.

The 125,000-square-foot science building will be located at the corner of Chase Road and Meridian Street. It is designed to support the university's rapidly growing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs, offering modern classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratories for the physics, biology, and chemistry departments. The new building will provide a dynamic environment for both students and faculty to engage in advanced teaching, learning, and research activities, positioning the university as a leader in STEM education.

Alabama A&M University has been increasing its focus on enhancing its academic facilities to meet the needs of an expanding student population. This science building will not only benefit students by providing them with access to cutting-edge technology and resources, but it will also play a crucial role in enhancing the university’s reputation as an institution committed to academic excellence and scientific discovery.

The second building, the student amenities building, will further enhance campus life by offering spaces and facilities that support student engagement, well-being, and extracurricular activities. Together, these projects will contribute to the university's efforts to provide a comprehensive and supportive environment for its students, fostering both academic success and personal growth.

“These new buildings are an important step in the university’s vision to expand and improve facilities for our students and faculty,” said Dr. Andrew Hugine, President of Alabama A&M University. “By selecting Freedom Real Estate and Capital, we are confident that we will receive the expertise needed to complete these projects on time and within budget, while ensuring that the final result meets the high standards our university upholds.”

Construction is expected to begin shortly, with both buildings slated for completion in the coming years. The expansion reflects Alabama A&M’s commitment to providing world-class education and fostering a thriving, dynamic campus environment for current and future generations of students.
