Turner Receives Award of Excellence for Workforce Development
Turner Construction Company received an Award of Excellence from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat for its robust program to increase the diverse talent in the architectural, construction, engineering, and STEM community. The program supports Turner’s vision to be as richly diverse as the communities in which we work.
Turner is expanding relationships at targeted Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and majority universities that have a strong diverse structure built into the core culture of the university. We have also strengthened partnerships with organizations such as the National Society for Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the Society of Asian Scientist & Engineers, and Out for Undergrad.
The Turner Tuition Assistance Program is making a difference in the lives of students and is helping to grow the pipeline of future hires. By 2030, we will have committed $15 million in scholarships, grants, and support to precollege STEM programs and other workforce development efforts.
“The changing and growing needs of the construction industry result in an increased demand for skilled labor and professional engineers. As we look to increase and strengthen the talent pipeline, we also aim to build a more diverse and inclusive pipeline – one that reflects the world we live in and the people we serve,” said Charles Stewart, Vice President Diverse Recruiting and Outreach, Turner Construction Company. “It is incredibly rewarding to help level the playing field and expose amazing and diverse talent to Turner and the entire AEC community.”
Turner will present details on the program and accept the award at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s 2024 International Conference in London, England
