Gilbane Building Company Completes Innovative Health Professions Facility at Towson University

Towson, Maryland – Gilbane Building Company has proudly completed the highly anticipated $160 million Health Professions Building at Towson University’s College of Health Professions. Officially opened on September 12, this cutting-edge 240,000-square-foot facility serves as a key educational hub, supporting Towson’s mission to provide high-tech, experiential learning for its students. The building integrates multiple health-related departments, fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary research, with advanced teaching spaces including a central high-tech auditorium.

The state-of-the-art facility, designed by Perkins + Will, emphasizes both sustainability and wellness. It is aiming for LEED Gold Certification, achieved through Gilbane’s innovative construction methods, including prefabricated components to meet an aggressive project timeline. According to Robert Fisher III, project executive at Gilbane, the building’s energy-efficient systems have set a new standard for future campus projects.

Housing departments like Nursing, Audiology, and Health Sciences, the building addresses Towson’s growing enrollment and demand for health professions programs, ensuring students like Exercise Science major Ella Freeman benefit from the advanced educational environment. This is Gilbane’s third major health facility project in Maryland, following successful builds at the Community College of Baltimore County and the Universities at Shady Grove.
