Dusty Robotics Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Dusty Robotics, maker of the FieldPrint Platform, a complete BIM-to-field solution designed to reduce construction risk by ensuring all contractors are building off the same information, has been named to Fast Company’s list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024.
This year’s list features businesses shaping industry and culture through their innovations. The organizations recognized by Fast Company are setting new standards and achieving remarkable milestones in all sectors of the economy. Alongside the World's 50 Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company recognizes 606 organizations across 58 sectors and regions.
The construction industry is one of the oldest, largest, and least automated industries. The industry has been seeking solutions to bridge the productivity gap, increasing efficiency, and decreasing risk because of the urgent need to build infrastructure to support the world’s growing population. Dusty’s solution is a core building block to transition the industry to a digital-first mindset.
“Construction is at its heart a data-driven workflow with many stakeholders. Automating that workflow eliminates the possibility of error and enables construction crews to do their best work with certainty that they get to build it right the first time,” said Tessa Lau, CEO and co-founder of Dusty Robotics. “Dusty’s FieldPrint Platform gives builders the tools they need to ensure that what they design is what they see on the ground, and what they see is what they build.”
The Dusty FieldPrint Platform is an integrated software and hardware solution that creates certainty in one of the riskiest steps in construction. The centerpiece of the FieldPrint Platform is the FieldPrinter automated layout robot. This self-driving inkjet printer autonomously traverses the job site and prints construction plans on the ground for everyone to see. With the plans inked on the ground underfoot, construction becomes more collaborative and efficient, since everyone is building off the same single source of truth.
Dusty Robotics’ FieldPrint Platform has significantly improved cost and time savings for many of the world’s largest contractors, such as Skanska USA. On just a single project, Skanska credited Dusty’s automation solution with delivering the 69,000 square foot Sutter Health Samaritan Court Ambulatory Care and Surgery Center in California three months ahead of schedule at a cost savings of around $3 million.
The World's Most Innovative Companies is Fast Company's hallmark franchise and one of the year's most anticipated editorial efforts.
“Our list of the Most Innovative Companies is both a comprehensive look at the innovation economy and a snapshot of the business trends that defined the year,” said Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan. “We saw extraordinary innovation across the board in 2023, but we also saw a handful of clear patterns: the growing footprint and impact of AI, the triumphant return of live events, and great leaps forward in climate tech. We face daunting challenges on many fronts, but the solutions we celebrate in MIC give me plenty of hope about the future.”
