Dusty Robotics Announces General Availability of FieldPrint Platform and FieldPrinter 2

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Dusty Robotics, a leader in multi-trade automated layout, has announced the general availability of its FieldPrint Platform, featuring the second-generation FieldPrinter 2 robot, comprehensive BIM-to-field automated workflows, and a new Floor Elevation product.

On average, 10% of profit margins on construction sites are lost due to poor coordination, leading to daily conflicts. These issues stem from the absence of a unified view of project specifications.

The FieldPrint Platform provides all stakeholders with consistent information from the design phase through to the job site. This multi-trade layout solution has been developed to maintain design integrity from BIM to the field. Its integration of hardware, software, and services enables construction teams to safeguard profits and expedite schedules by equipping field teams with actionable data from the digital model.

Customers with early access, including some of the largest general and trade contractors in the U.S., are enthusiastic about the FieldPrinter 2.

“Working with FieldPrinter 2 has been an upgrade for Mortenson in every measurable way. The Dusty Portal and the updated Dusty iPad app let us make changes in the office and have them transferred right away to our layout team in the field,” said Travis Brock, Integrated Construction Manager at Mortenson. “Overall, we are completing our layout more quickly from start to finish with the new FieldPrinter 2, getting our teams building faster and with the same great accuracy and dependability of the original.”

"Dusty Robotics has proven to be a transformative partner for PCI. The advancements we’ve experienced with the FieldPrinter 2 are remarkable. Compared to its predecessor, which was already working well for our team, not only is the quality of the lines sharper and the text clearer, but the robot's navigation on our jobsites is both swift and precise,” said Trevor Lykins of Performance Contracting, Inc.

The FieldPrint Platform now features Portal Reporting, which acts as a bidirectional communication layer between the office and the job site.

Portal Reporting: Bridging the Office and the Field

This feature ensures that project teams remain connected to the field in real-time, allowing for remote monitoring of layout progress. Key benefits include:

  • Trade-Specific Progress Monitoring and Completion: View print progress by trade to allocate resources effectively and keep projects on schedule.
  • Cost Tracking: Detailed metrics facilitate the allocation of layout costs across multiple trades for accurate chargebacks to each trade partner.
  • Final Layout Review: Clear documentation of printed layouts preserves an audit trail of what has been communicated for installation.

In addition to the FieldPrint Platform and FieldPrinter 2, Dusty Robotics is launching a new product: Floor Elevation.

Floor Elevation: Measuring Quality in Three Dimensions

Certain projects, like data centers, hospitals, and industrial automation facilities, require perfectly flat and even concrete slabs. Traditional methods for measuring floor elevation are often manual and prone to errors. The new Floor Elevation product enables automated measurement of floor elevation at key points along the robot’s path, streamlining the delivery of high-quality slabs. Benefits include:

  • Measure Elevations: Automate the accurate capture of floor elevation during layout, removing the need for additional subcontractors.
  • Quantify Levelness: With precise measurements at designated locations, accurately calculate the material required for filling, minimizing waste.

“The construction industry falls short on delivering quality because too much valuable information is hidden from view, locked away in digital tools,” stated Tessa Lau, CEO and co-founder of Dusty Robotics. “The FieldPrint Platform and Floor Elevation products make this invisible information tangible and actionable, empowering all trades to deliver their highest-quality work on safe, efficient job sites.”

Availability

The FieldPrint Platform, FieldPrinter 2, Dusty Portal, Floor Elevation, and more are now available with usage-based pricing, allowing builders to achieve higher quality at a low cost of entry that scales with their project portfolio needs.
