Bechtel reinforced its long-standing partnership with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at the SWE Annual Conference in Chicago by donating $150,000 to the SWENext Clubs, aiming to foster STEM interest in local communities. This contribution supports the expansion of SWENext Clubs at Houston’s Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy and Young Women’s Leadership Academy.
Bechtel’s Manufacturing & Technology President, Catherine Hunt Ryan, delivered a keynote at the event, emphasizing the importance of women in shaping the future of construction: “Today, the future is ours to build... structures of tomorrow are going to tell the story that women were here.”
Highlighting the growing opportunities for women in STEM, Hunt Ryan noted that the construction boom presents a chance for women to make a lasting impact: “These future projects will demand a greater range of talent than ever before. And that is creating the kind of jobs and career opportunities where women can make their mark.”
Ailie MacAdam, Bechtel Mining & Metals President, was also honored with the Distinguished Global Leader Award for her commitment to fostering inclusive workspaces for women and her leadership in global professional organizations.
“Our enduring partnership with SWE strengthens our efforts to promote progress and inclusivity within our industry,” said Ailie MacAdam. "This award reflects our dedication to empowering women in engineering and leadership."
