AGMCC Unveils New Website and Highlights Progress with NACC and AGMT Certifications at Annual Meeting

SACKETS HARBOR, N.Y. — The Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council (AGMCC) recently hosted its annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 23-24, 2024. During the meeting, AGMCC revealed the launch of a new website and shared significant progress on the North American Contractor Certification (NACC) and Architectural Glass and Metal Technician (AGMT) programs, North America’s premier third-party credentials for glazing contractors and technicians.

Both the NACC and AGMT programs are managed by AMS, Inc. and supported by AGMCC, which oversees both initiatives. The AGMCC board, which comprises 18 industry professionals, continues to guide the programs with input from certified contractors, glaziers, and other stakeholders. Over 40 members attended the annual meeting to discuss the programs’ progress and future direction.

NACC and AGMT Program Highlights

  • NACC saw a 17.6% growth in 2024, certifying 80 new contractors, with 20 more in the process of certification.
  • NACC experienced a 27% increase in project specification references, as reported by Dodge Analytics, and has been included in over 5,900 projects across North America over the past six years.
  • AGMT also grew by 17.0% in 2024, certifying 1,847 glaziers, with a certification rate of 84%.
  • The AGMCC provided insights into AGMT exam performance, and subject-matter experts contributed to writing 175 new test questions at the meeting.
  • NACC announced the launch of a new competency category starting in January 2025 to recognize contractors with AGMT-certified installers.
  • Both NACC and AGMT have recently completed their reaccreditation by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), reaffirming their credibility in the industry.
Terry Schaefer, vice president of AMS, Inc., commented, “The annual meeting gives us an opportunity to bring together NACC and AGMT programs in a methodical way, ensuring that we’re meeting the highest standards and mitigating risks for industry stakeholders.”

Rodney Harvey, AGMCC board chair, stated, “The growing commitment to industry representation ensures we hear from both our strongest supporters and critics. It is crucial to continue evolving the programs to serve all participants effectively.”

In addition to these updates, AGMCC unveiled the new GlazingCertification.com website, which consolidates information on NACC and AGMT certifications. The site aims to better serve both current and prospective members by providing resources, tools, and detailed information on the value of certification.

Focus on Program Growth and Future Enhancements

AGMT is exploring the possibility of offering "specialty certificates" by 2027, to provide further focus on specific glazing skills beyond the core competencies currently assessed. Similarly, NACC is working with certified contractors to develop case studies that highlight the benefits and value of certification.

“The AGMT and NACC programs are key to promoting success in the glazing industry,” said Harvey. “Both programs aim to support contractors and technicians in delivering quality work through intentional effort and continuous improvement.”
