AECOM Secures Five-Year Contract for Environmental Remediation Services with U.S. Army Environmental Command

Dallas, TX (June 20, 2024) – AECOM (NYSE: ACM), a global leader in infrastructure consulting, announced today it has been awarded a significant five-year contract by the U.S. Army Environmental Command. This multi-award contract tasks AECOM with providing environmental remediation services across the continental United States, as well as Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska.

The project scope encompasses critical tasks like investigation and remediation of hazardous and toxic waste, including the increasingly concerning per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).  AECOM brings over two decades of experience dealing with PFAS at more than 600 sites worldwide, making them uniquely qualified to support the U.S. Department of Defense's efforts to address PFAS concerns.

“We are honored to leverage our environmental expertise and continue our partnership with the U.S. Army in tackling these crucial environmental challenges,” said Frank Sweet, Chief Executive of AECOM’s global Environment business. “This new contract solidifies our position as a trusted partner for the U.S. government on environmental issues.  Our experience with various agencies, including the Army, Navy, FEMA, and NASA, positions us well to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding PFAS and other contaminants.”

The remediation of PFAS goes beyond simply environmental cleanup; it is vital for protecting our water resources.  “As the number one ranked Water design practice by Engineering News-Record,” said Beverley Stinson, Chief Executive of AECOM’s global Water business, “we are committed to supporting the U.S. Army through this contract.  We will continue working with federal agencies to safeguard public health, the environment, and our water supply.”
