Construction has officially begun on Etihad Park, New York City’s first-ever professional soccer-specific stadium and the future home of New York City FC. Located in Willets Point, Queens, the $780 million, 610,000-square-foot stadium represents a transformative step for the sport and the city.

Fully funded by New York City FC, Etihad Park will feature 25,000 seats and Major League Soccer’s first fully electric design. Sustainability innovations, such as rooftop photovoltaic panels and a water reuse system for pitch irrigation, will power the facility. The stadium will also include 40 private suites, three premium clubs, and a community-focused City Square plaza for events and gatherings. The development integrates retail, dining, and office spaces, making it a vibrant hub for Queens residents and visitors.

“New York City FC committed ten years ago to build New York City's first-ever soccer-specific stadium in the five boroughs, and today's groundbreaking of Etihad Park in Willets Point, Queens, brings us one step closer to delivering that promise to our fans and our city,” said New York City FC Vice Chairman Marty Edelman.

Turner Construction Company, the lead builder for the project, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We are thrilled to begin work on this transformative project. Etihad Park will stand as a landmark for soccer enthusiasts and a cornerstone for the Willets Point community,” said Charles Whitney, Vice President and General Manager at Turner Construction Company. “We deeply appreciate the collaboration with New York City FC, HOK, and our trade partners, and we’re committed to building a facility that reflects the spirit and energy of New York.”

Etihad Park is scheduled to open for the 2027 MLS season, cementing New York City’s position as a major destination for soccer while setting a new benchmark in sustainable sports infrastructure.
