SAVANNAH, Tenn. (WSMV) – A hotel still under construction in Hardin County has been completely destroyed by a fire that broke out earlier this week, according to the Savannah Fire Department.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 125 Million Dollar Way on Wednesday at around 4:48 a.m. for reports of a blaze at the Sleep Inn hotel, which was still being built.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames emanating from the structure. The Savannah Fire Department stated that efforts to combat the fire were immediately launched, with a focus on safeguarding nearby equipment and an occupied home located close to the site.

Due to the building's incomplete status and factors such as wind, the structure was deemed a total loss. The home next door also sustained minor damage, officials reported.
At this time, the origin and cause of the fire remain undetermined, although authorities have no reason to believe the fire was criminal in nature. Given the substantial value of the property, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Fire Division has been asked to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
“I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and kind words for all of the emergency responders who assisted on this call. While tragic, we are glad that no one was injured battling this intense blaze. I want to especially thank the Hardin County Fire Department for their assistance,” said Savannah Fire Department Chief Steve Hughes.
