The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has honored the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) with a prestigious Grand Award for its outstanding achievements in membership growth and retention during the 2024 Annual Membership Awards. TAB was recognized as the top state Home Builders Association (HBA) for achieving the highest Member Retention Rate among HBAs in its size category last year.
The NAHB's Grand Awards highlight HBAs across the country that have shown remarkable success in boosting membership, including through increases in overall membership numbers, percentage growth, retention rates, and increases in affiliate members. TAB’s win was a direct result of their commitment to membership engagement, retention, and growth, which ultimately led to their recognition in this highly competitive field.
“Associations are always faced with the challenge of proving their value proposition to their membership. Texas Association of Builders works hard every day advocating for our members to try to build a better future for Texas housing,” said Scott Norman, CEO of the Texas Association of Builders.
TAB's growth strategy combines several methods, including robust recruitment and retention efforts, collaboration with 26 local Home Builders Association affiliates, and a focus on networking, professional development, and community engagement. Through initiatives in philanthropy, workforce development, and active involvement in legislative advocacy, TAB has been able to not only maintain strong membership but also attract new members by offering valuable services like contract packages, product rebates, and extensive insurance programs.

These strategies have contributed to a vibrant community of homebuilders that remains engaged and committed to the association's mission. TAB’s efforts underscore its critical role in the housing industry, helping drive Texas’ economy and ensuring the availability of housing across the state.
"Membership also includes valuable offerings such as contract packages, product rebates, and comprehensive insurance programs. All of these efforts have helped foster a strong sense of community and attract new members to the organization," the association noted.
As part of the Texas Association of Builders’ efforts to ensure the long-term success of the state’s housing sector, the 26 local affiliates work in tandem with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) to improve the housing landscape, support workforce development, and advocate for policies that strengthen the industry.
Founded in 1946, the Texas Association of Builders plays a significant role in the housing market, representing nearly 10,000 members who contribute to over $71.5 billion annually to Texas’ economy. TAB's ongoing advocacy efforts, workforce development programs, and community engagement have made it a pillar of the state's home building industry.
