Skanska to Overhaul Albany's Livingston Avenue Bridge

Skanska, a global leader in construction and development, has secured a substantial $635 million contract to replace the Livingston Avenue Bridge in Albany, New York. The project, commissioned by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), marks a significant step towards enhancing transportation infrastructure in the region.

The new bridge will serve as a vital artery for Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, improving safety, efficiency, and passenger experience. Beyond rail traffic, the structure will incorporate a pedestrian and cyclist path, promoting sustainable transportation and community access.

Skanska's scope of work encompasses the design and construction of a movable two-track vertical lift railroad bridge, along with ancillary components such as control rooms, electrical infrastructure, and signal systems. Additional improvements to nearby rail lines are also included in the project.

Construction is slated to commence in May 2024, with completion anticipated in March 2028. This transformative project underscores Skanska's commitment to delivering complex infrastructure solutions that benefit both commuters and the broader community.
