PEC Construction Management to Oversee Sunfish Solar 2 in Michigan

Caroline Raffetto

STOCKTON, Mo., March 24, 2025 -- PEC Construction Management (PEC) has been selected by Hecate Energy to oversee the construction of the Sunfish Solar 2 facility in Calhoun County, Michigan. This project is a critical step for Hecate Energy as part of their 1-gigawatt renewable energy portfolio. Once completed, the solar facility will provide enough clean energy to power approximately 69,000 Michigan homes.

As part of the build-transfer agreement with Consumers Energy, this facility will contribute to the company’s goal of bringing 8,000 MW of solar power online by 2040. The electricity generated will support Consumers Energy’s renewable energy program, serving both residential and commercial customers. The Sunfish Solar 2 project will be one of the largest solar facilities in Michigan and will play a pivotal role in the state’s effort to achieve 50% renewable energy by 2030.

Construction on the Sunfish Solar 2 facility has already begun, and PEC is deploying its team to ensure efficient and safe project oversight. PEC will provide on-site construction management, risk management, and mitigation services throughout the project to ensure the project is completed successfully.

"We're honored to have been selected by Hecate Energy to oversee the construction of this landmark project, which supports Michigan's renewable energy objectives. Our team, with expertise in HV/MV electrical, transmission, substation, civil, and mechanical disciplines, is committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance, setting a precedent for future projects across the state," said Eddie Pease, Founder and Principal of PEC Construction Management.

Fazli Qadir, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction at Hecate Energy, added, "We're excited to collaborate with PEC, whose extensive experience in representing developers throughout the construction of large-scale, complex renewable energy projects like Sunfish Solar 2 ensures the project will remain safe, compliant, and aligned with the high standards set by Hecate Energy and its financial partners."
