HAUSER, ID – March 25, 2025 — Kodiak Building Partners, a leading building materials distributor, has announced the launch of its greenfield subsidiary, Ponderosa Building Supply, in Hauser, Idaho. This new venture will serve both residential and commercial builders, contractors, and homeowners across Idaho with premium lumber and building materials, while significantly increasing supply availability and creating additional hubs in the market.

Expanding Operations in the Northwest

Kodiak Building Partners aims to expand its presence in the rapidly growing Northwest region, including northern Idaho and Wyoming. The company is positioning Ponderosa Building Supply to support the construction industry's increasing demand for high-quality materials. With the region’s rich timber production, Kodiak BP sees this expansion as an opportunity to solidify its position in one of the top timber-producing areas of the U.S.

To help lead this new venture, Kodiak BP has appointed Kevin Prosser as area Vice President for LBM Idaho and Wyoming and Tim Borg as General Manager of Ponderosa Building Supply. Prosser, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous role at US LBM, will oversee operations and strategic growth in Idaho and Wyoming. At US LBM, he managed multiple branches in Wisconsin and gained extensive expertise in sales, operations, millwork, and logistics.

Borg, a seasoned industry veteran with over 40 years of experience, will lead the launch and day-to-day management of Ponderosa Building Supply. Before joining Kodiak BP, Borg was the General Manager at Builders FirstSource.

Leadership’s Vision for the Northwest Expansion

Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak BP, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic timing and growth prospects for Ponderosa Building Supply in the region.

“The construction industry is growing in the Northwest, including northern Idaho and Wyoming,” Swinney said in a statement. “The state of the market, coupled with the region’s position as one of the top producers of timber in the U.S., makes this an opportune time to invest in a new venture like Ponderosa Building Supply. We think big, think positive, and never show any sign of weakness. We move forward with confidence as we expand our presence in this thriving market.”

The expansion into Idaho with Ponderosa Building Supply is part of Kodiak BP’s broader strategy to grow its regional operations. This new subsidiary will bring much-needed supply and resources to the area, while also creating jobs and economic opportunities in the region.

Recent Acquisitions and Future Growth

Kodiak Building Partners continues to invest in strategic acquisitions and expansions. The company's most recent acquisition was Kendall Lumber, a Minnesota-based distributor, which was announced on January 14, 2025. This acquisition is part of Kodiak BP’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its footprint across key U.S. markets and further establishing itself as a leader in the building materials industry.

Looking Ahead

As Kodiak BP continues to grow its presence in the Northwest, the company is focused on providing high-quality materials to meet the needs of the region’s residential and commercial builders. The launch of Ponderosa Building Supply is a significant step toward meeting the increasing demand for building materials and supporting the ongoing growth of the construction industry in Idaho and Wyoming.

The construction industry in the Northwest is expected to continue its growth trajectory, driven by a surge in residential and commercial development. With its new subsidiary, Kodiak Building Partners is well-positioned to become a key player in the region’s building materials distribution market. The company’s commitment to providing premium products, paired with the expertise of new leadership like Kevin Prosser and Tim Borg, ensures that Ponderosa Building Supply will meet the growing demand and contribute to the economic development of the area.

As Kodiak BP builds on its momentum, the company is also looking at other expansion opportunities across the U.S. to continue its industry-leading growth in the building materials distribution sector.
