Falls continue to be one of the most dangerous hazards in the construction industry. According to a recent analysis by CPWR, the rate of falls to a lower level has increased by 13.3% since 2011.
The majority of these falls occur at smaller companies with 10 or fewer employees. Falls also account for two of the most common types of nonfatal injuries leading to days away from work.
CPWR Director Amber Trueblood emphasized the importance of addressing nonfatal injuries and near misses to prevent fatal accidents. She noted that these injuries can have long-lasting consequences for workers and their families.
Roofers are particularly at risk of fatal falls, with the highest number of such incidents in 2022.
CPWR offers tools and educational programs to help small businesses improve safety and prevent falls. By addressing these issues, we can create a safer and healthier work environment for construction workers.
