Meta, the global technology giant, has committed to purchasing the energy produced by the project. This strategic partnership aligns with Meta’s sustainability goals, which include reaching 100% renewable energy usage. As part of its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, Meta will rely on the Show Me State solar project to help meet the energy demands of its Kansas City data centers, benefiting both the company and local communities.

Thomas de Swardt, DESRI’s chief commercial officer, expressed his enthusiasm about the project, saying: "Starting construction at Show Me State Solar is an exciting milestone for DESRI, as well as our partners at Ranger Power. This is DESRI's third project in Missouri to start construction, and we appreciate all of the project's stakeholders and supporters as we continue to expand our portfolio. We particularly appreciate Ranger's efforts, as well as Meta's support in moving the project forward."

With a projected peak construction workforce of more than 300 individuals, the project will provide significant employment opportunities in the region, contributing to local economic growth. The solar facility is expected to begin commercial operations by 2026, marking another major achievement for both DESRI and Ranger Power in their mission to promote renewable energy solutions.

The $500 million project has secured financing through a consortium of reputable lenders. The group includes the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce as the lead arranger, alongside Nord/LB, Royal Bank of Canada, and Bank of America. These financial partners have provided critical support to ensure the successful development of the solar project.

Ranger Power’s co-founder and CEO, Adam Cohen, highlighted the importance of the project, stating: "Ranger Power is proud to play a role in bringing this significant level of investment to Callaway County. A nearly $500m venture, this forward-thinking partnership advancing Meta's role as a technology leader will benefit the local community and citizens of the Show Me State for decades to come with locally harvested and cost-effective power."
