Crossland Heavy Expands into North Texas Infrastructure Market

Caroline Raffetto

Kansas-based Crossland Heavy Contractors is planting roots in Texas with the launch of a new office in Prosper, a fast-growing city just north of Dallas. The move, announced Monday, marks the civil contractor’s latest expansion into high-growth regions, underscoring its intent to capitalize on increasing infrastructure needs across North Texas.

The new office brings Crossland Heavy closer to one of the most dynamic construction markets in the country. Prosper, located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, is part of a region experiencing rapid population growth and heightened investment in public infrastructure. According to a 2024 report by the U.S. Census Bureau, five of the fastest-growing cities in the country are located in North Texas.

“There is a clear demand for enhanced infrastructure in Texas, and Crossland Heavy is fully prepared to meet this challenge,” said Jason Lundry, Texas division manager, in the announcement. “Our new location not only allows us to leverage our existing resources more efficiently but also positions us to better serve the evolving needs of this growing region.”

Lundry will lead the Texas division, bringing more than 20 years of experience in managing complex civil construction projects. His portfolio includes high-profile jobs like the $57 million Broken Arrow Wastewater Treatment Plant in Oklahoma. Under his leadership, Crossland aims to tackle a wide range of projects in Texas, from roadway and utility work to environmental infrastructure and public works.

This isn’t the firm’s first step into a new territory. Late last year, Crossland Heavy opened a new office in Omaha, Nebraska, reflecting its broader strategy to expand throughout the central United States. Its existing operations in Northwest Arkansas, Tulsa, and Oklahoma City provide a strong regional network that the new Texas hub will now connect with.

Founded in 1993 as a sister company to Crossland Construction, Crossland Heavy Contractors (CHC) was established to expand the firm’s capabilities into the heavy civil and environmental construction sectors. Today, the company is recognized as a major player in the industry. Crossland Construction, its parent company, was ranked No. 55 on Engineering News-Record’s 2024 Top 400 Contractors list, with revenues reaching $2.06 billion last year.

With its growing geographic footprint and a reputation for managing large-scale infrastructure projects, Crossland Heavy sees Texas as a natural next step in its evolution.

“As the region continues to grow, so does the need for resilient and modern infrastructure,” Lundry said. “We’re excited to be part of that solution.”
