FREMONT — Mosser Construction, based in Fremont, has earned recognition at the Build Ohio Award gala in Columbus, with two of its recent projects honored for excellence in construction.

The Associated General Contractors of Ohio hosted the annual event on Nov. 15, celebrating achievements in the commercial construction industry. The Build Ohio Award is one of the state’s most prestigious honors, recognizing contractors for exceptional customer service, overcoming challenges, innovative project management, and the use of advanced construction techniques and materials.

Project No. 1: Bowling Green Administrative Services Building

In the new construction under $50 million category, Mosser won a bronze and marble award for its work on the Bowling Green administrative services building project. The project faced unique challenges due to the historical significance of the site. The 1913 post office façade needed to be preserved while demolishing the remaining structure and constructing a new 31,000-square-foot facility. Despite obstacles such as market volatility, procurement delays, workforce shortages, and unforeseen site conditions, Mosser’s team successfully completed the project on budget. Their creative engineering even allowed for the addition of a rooftop patio, enhancing the building’s overall functionality and aesthetics.

Project No. 2: Collins Park Water Treatment Plant Improvements

In the industrial/heavy category, Mosser was part of the Kokosing/Mosser Joint Venture team that won the award for improvements at the Collins Park water treatment plant in Toledo. The plant, which was built in 1941, had not undergone significant upgrades since 1956. As part of the City of Toledo’s decade-long program to overhaul the plant, Mosser’s team refurbished pumps and motors, renovated the pump station building, and completed masonry restoration and roof replacements, among other improvements. This project marked one of the final phases of the plant’s much-needed upgrades.

Commitment to Excellence

Brian Geffe, president and CEO of Mosser Construction, expressed pride in the team’s achievements. "The projects we were up against in both categories were outstanding, each with its own set of unique challenges and innovations," Geffe said. "It’s a true honor to be recognized not only for the obstacles both of our project teams successfully overcame but also for their exceptional work, dedication to quality craftsmanship, and unwavering commitment to meeting the clients' needs."
