Calling All South Carolina Highway Builders: Help Set Fair Wages!

Caroline Raffetto

The U.S. Department of Labor is giving you a chance to have your say in how much construction workers get paid. They're conducting a survey to determine prevailing wage rates, which basically mean the standard wages and benefits paid in your area for this type of work. ♀️♂️

Why is this important?  This survey helps ensure construction workers on federally funded projects get paid fairly. It also benefits contractors by giving them a clear picture of what's considered a competitive wage in South Carolina. ️

They're looking for info on wages and benefits paid between September 9th, 2023, and December 9th, 2024.  Whether you're an employer or someone in the industry, your participation is crucial!

Here's how you can help:

  • Keep an eye out for a notification letter from the Department of Labor. It will include a link to the online survey.  Filling it out online is the easiest way to go.
  • Don't have internet access? No worries! You can call the department at (866) 236-2773 to request a mailed survey form.
  • The deadline to submit your information is December 9th, 2024. Don't miss out!  ️

So, what do you think?  Is participating in this survey a good thing for South Carolina's construction industry?   Let us know in the comments below!
