Brookline, Massachusetts – A three-story building under construction partially collapsed during Sunday’s snowstorm, sending debris crashing onto a parked car in Brookline.
Emergency crews arrived at Vernon Street shortly before 10 a.m., responding to reports of the structural failure. According to the Brookline Fire Department, the top two floors of the vacant building had caved in, scattering rubble across the area.

Officials confirmed that no one was inside the building at the time, and no injuries were reported. However, images released by the Brookline Fire Department on Facebook showed a heavily damaged vehicle buried beneath the fallen structure.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse, with early speculation suggesting that heavy snowfall may have weakened the structure. Structural engineers will assess the site to determine if additional safety concerns exist.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud crash as the building gave way. One witness described the scene, saying, "It sounded like an explosion. When I looked outside, there was dust everywhere and part of the building was just gone."
The collapse serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that extreme weather conditions can pose to buildings, particularly those under construction. Officials urge caution around construction sites, especially during severe weather events.
The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
