April 2025 Construction Tech: Platforms, Reporting, Road & Timber Tools

This month’s slate of construction technology launches showcases tools that streamline preconstruction, enhance project visualization, support road resurfacing, and simplify timber design. Whether targeting field coordination or structural engineering, these products reflect the industry’s growing appetite for integrated and specialized platforms.
Here are four notable releases from April 2025:
PlanHub 2.0: A Unified Preconstruction Experience
West Palm Beach-based PlanHub has released a new version of its project discovery and bidding platform. PlanHub 2.0 enables users to discover new project leads, interact with more than 50,000 general contractors, set reminders, and manage bids—all in a single platform.
“2025 will be the year of construction tech-stack consolidation,” said Ro Bhatia, PlanHub CEO. “Contractors are done settling for disconnected tools — they’re demanding a do-it-all platform that seamlessly manages preconstruction across multiple stakeholders.”
The company says its user base now includes 500,000 professionals, with over 100,000 new general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers joining annually. Subcontractors gained access to PlanHub 2.0 in February, and the company plans to roll out versions for general contractors and suppliers later this year.
XYZ Reality’s Advanced BIM Integration
London-based XYZ Reality has rolled out a major upgrade to its construction delivery platform, aimed at reducing delays and rework through real-time insights and automation.

The enhanced XYZ Platform introduces 360-degree site captures linked to 4D BIM models, mobile data collection tools, dynamic status updates, and centralized dashboards that consolidate progress and quality metrics.
“If this platform had existed years ago, it would have saved countless projects from delays and costly rework,” said Brian Mattson, strategic advisor to XYZ Reality and former Microsoft and Intel exec. “The level of visibility and real-time insight XYZ Reality now provides is a game-changer for mission critical construction teams and advanced technology worldwide.”
Topcon Enhances Road Tech Tools
Topcon Positioning Systems has expanded its SmoothRide lineup with the new RD-M2 mobile LiDAR scanner, which now supports more satellite constellations for improved precision.
The scanner, part of Topcon’s road resurfacing technology suite, is designed to minimize closures and boost efficiency. The company also unveiled an advanced roller management system for compactors and asphalt rollers that utilizes automation and real-time data to ensure consistent pavement quality.
“Contractors face ever-decreasing margins, tighter specifications, and an increasing focus on meeting sustainability targets, while municipalities face ever-growing infrastructure development and maintenance challenges,” said Murray Lodge, executive vice president of Topcon Positioning Systems. “The industry needs innovative approaches to resurface roads efficiently with long-lasting results, and these latest solutions are a step forward.”
New features include a wireless Android display and the ability to switch between GPS and robotic total station-based systems, with options for adding sensors like thermometers and accelerometers.
CLT Toolbox: Timber Tech Arrives in North America
Australian startup CLT Toolbox has introduced its beta platform to engineers in the U.S. and Canada, offering a collection of design tools focused on mass timber construction.
From CLT panel sizing to fire safety analysis, the platform aims to help structural engineers streamline calculations and improve design workflows. CLT Toolbox is working with local engineers and suppliers to tailor its platform for the North American market.
Since launching in late 2023, the firm has grown to over 3,500 users worldwide and raised $1.6 million in venture funding. A full North American launch is expected later this year.
