$500M Expansion Underway at Missouri Theme Park

Caroline Raffetto

Silver Dollar City, the iconic amusement park in Branson, Missouri, is set to undergo a significant expansion, adding 1,200 acres and a new resort as part of a $500 million investment over the next decade. This development, the largest in the park's 65-year history, includes plans for the Silver Dollar City Resort, touted as the first theme park resort in America’s Heartland.

The existing 100-acre park, which has been delighting visitors since 1960, features 12 stages, over 40 rides, 18 dining options, and 60 shops, showcasing resident craftsmen in traditional arts.

The upcoming 262-room resort, currently under construction, will offer stunning views of the Ozark Mountains and Table Rock Lake, with a planned opening in late 2026.

“Over the next decade, we will mindfully transform 1,200 acres into an authentic, only-in-the-Ozarks destination starting with our first resort,” stated Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Parks & Resorts.

In addition to this project, the Ozarks are seeing another major tourism initiative. In Osage Beach, a $400 million family resort and entertainment district called Oasis at Lakeport is being developed, with plans for its first phase to open in summer 2025.
